The Community Christian Academy wanted to utilise their NSSP funding to not only to install a solar power system and associated energy monitoring system, but to reduce their electricity usage through improved energy efficiency.
WHERE: Launceston, Tasmania
PROJECT: 2kW solar power system
myENERGY monitoring system
300L solar hot water system
Ceiling insulation in the hall building
SAVINGS: $1,000 and 1.65 Tonnes of CO2 per annum
DETAILS: EnergyBank assisted by firstly undertaking an energy audit of the facility. This determined that the most cost effective way to improve the energy efficiency in the school was to install ceiling insulation in the hall building which would reduce the heating and cooling load in this area, and install a solar hot water system which will reduce the hot water energy usage by 60%. The balance of the funding was spent on a 2kW solar power system, and a myENERGY energy and solar educational monitoring system.
